CHM Group Release a New Tech to Curb PNG Music Piracy

PORT MORESBY - A new technology soon to be released into the market by CHM Group could well be the solution to Music Piracy in the country.

This was revealed by CHM Managing Director Raymond Chin during the launch of RaitFM nationwide on Monday.

He did not release further details of the product but says it will be of great benefit to musicians and a boost for PNG Music.

The launch at their RaitFM Studios in Port Moresby represents a new era for the company, as it strives to protect and promote local PNG music.

It has taken 30 years for it to finally come to fruition.

Managing Director Raymond Chin said much of what has been the foundation of his vision for PNG music has been lost through music piracy.

But from hereon, with more listeners sure to be tuning into RaitFM nationwide, the company has plans to curb this growing problem.

The new technology soon to be released will come in the form of a flash drive, where consumers can directly download from music kiosks and not from computers or any other devices.

There is a booming music industry crippled by piracy that is costly to the business, with musicians not getting the required benefits.

The lack of political will in supporting the local music industry is not helping either. [EMTV]
