Gary Juffa Behind Oro Sport

POPONDETTA (ORO) -  Northern Governor Gary Juffa is serious about sports and infrastructure development in the province.

In an email to The National, Juffa and his provincial executive council sector chairman for sports and youth Herbert Isemba are drawing up a priority sports development plan for the province.

“As long as I am the governor, I will support any sport including rugby league. We have allocated K200,000 to see that the code is revived as it has a big impact on the unemployed youths,” Juffa said.

“I want to focus on talent identification and infrastructure development to improve quality in the sports played in Oro.”

The rugby league oval at Bottom Town is undergoing maintenancewith fencing. While other infrastructure like a stadium, which the Governor Juffa was willing to fund.

He intends to take stock of all the sports administrators, technical officials and player’s data to see that sports development go forward and beyond. Juffa also wants resource personnel in league, soccer, netball, basketball, volleyball, touch football, rugby union, darts, taekwondo and athletics to ensure that development is their priority.

He  wants to see the schools component of the sports development  programme reintroduced  with inter-school competition to identify talents. The means provincial sports offices in the districts will need to lift their performance. [TheNational]
