The screening part of the Science Film Festival held by Goethe Institute in 37 cities in Indonesia.
Goethe Institute Program Coordinator, Elizabeth Soegiarto said science and technology can be delivered in a way that is entertaining through audiovisual media.
“That’s why we hold this event,” she said.
She said introducing science through films is a very effective way to foster the love of science and the environment among kids. Children will not get tired of learning technologies because it is presented in a simple way.
“We believe in learning science through film is not boring for children. We introduce environmentally friendly technologies. If you watch the film, I believe they do not get bored like studying science in school, “she added.
Coordinator of Human Resources of WWF Papua, Erita Nurdiani, said the event will begin today and tomorrow. “Besides in Jayapura city, film screenings will also be held in Merauke,” she said.
In addition to the screening of the documentary, the students would also take part in the race painting, coloring, and caricatures.
