PORT MORESBY - TNT Vakana defeated Rainbow, 3-1 in round 2 of the Port Moresby Soccer Competition, played at the Sir John Guise Stadium.
Rainbow tried in vain to hold off Vakana, but managed to find the back of the net only once.
Both teams braved the scorching Port Moresby heat to exchange ball possession on field. It was Vakana in blue who displayed classy football, while Rainbow in red worked hard in defense.
Vakana set the pace to dominate the first half of the match, but Rainbow found a gap in their defense but their efforts to score were dismissed by Vanaka’s strong backs.
Rainbow managed only once to find the back of the net. Vanaka bounced back twice and dominated the match 2-1 at half time.
It was an all Vanaka affair in the second half. The boys in blue eyed the ball, making sure all loose balls were put to good use. Rainbow sensed the pressure and fought back, but to no avail.
Vanaka were the better side with a goal just before half time to lead to fulltime. [EMTV]
