Casmer Kamangip To Represent Oceania in Under 23 World Training Camp Portugal

PORT MORESBY - 18 year old, Casmer Kamangip from Angoram in the East Sepik Province will represent the Oceania Region, at the Under 23 World Training Camp in Portugal.

Casmer Kamangip, is a product of the Sepik Iron Man contest, and the only athlete from the Oceania region.

After a successful Pacific Islands Cycling Championships over the weekend, the PNG Triathlon team and executives appeared in high spirits.

PNG finished with an impressive score of 37, followed by Guam with 15, Fiji with 9, and Solomon Islands on 3.

It is the aim of the PNG Triathlon Association to produce more champions such as Rachel Sapery James who took out 3 gold medals in the Olympic Distance event.

Another notable athlete Susie Pini took home her fair share of spoils in the Sprint Distance category.

A team of 9 PNG triathlon athletes will also participate at the World Championships to be staged in London from the 11th to the 16th of September.

All these can now be possible with the assistance of the Sports Ministry with one hundred thousand Kina.

Casmer will join the rest of the PNG Triathlon team in London to compete at the World Championships as well. [EMTV]
