The National Maritime Safety Authority Appointed New Board Members

PORT MORESBY - The National Maritime Safety Authority wishes to announce the appointment of the newly appointed Board Members of the National Maritime Safety Authority as per the June 12, 2013 approval made by the National Executive Council.

Minister for Transport, Ano Pala who was present at the first board meeting for 2013, held on the 18th of July, welcomed the appointments of new Board members.

The NMSA Act 2003 provides for the establishment of an eight Member Board including Board Chairman, Peter Humphreys, representative for PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr Ray Anere, National Research Institute, Roy Mumu Secretary for Transport and representative for the Transport Department.

Others include Donald Hehona, representative of the Department of Treasury, Susana Germino, General Manager of Steamships Shipping Limited and representative for Coastal Shipowners Association, Stanley Enn Alphonse, CEO and representative for PNG Ports Corporation, Charles Kassman, representative for the three coastal regions, and Chris Rupen, General Manager CEO and representative for National Maritime Safety Authority.

Minister Pala congratulated the members of the Board and remarked that the appointments were made as a result of the industry's faith in their good standing and competence as experts from the respective sectors they represent. [FM100]
