Djorne Fong To Defend Snooker Title

PORT MORESBY - PNG Men’s snooker competition is expected to attract more players from the other centers to vie against Defending champion, Djorne Fong.

Djorne will be out to defend his sixth consecutive title.

Players are expected to come in from Alotau, Lae, Kokopo, Kavieng, Lihir and the host Port Moresby.

The PNG Men’s National titles has come a long way and has seen many keen Papua New Guineans taking up the sport.

The Men’s Titles is the biggest event in the code itself.

Defending Champion Djorne Fong will be vying for his 6th consecutive title, but is sure to get some steep opposition in the likes of fellow PNG reps Arua Simoi, Willie Vaieke, Ralph Kaina, Nathan Fong, veterans Peter Fong, Roger Ng, Harry and Brian Fong from Kavieng.

The event will have 48 players in B Grade and 40 in A Grade. The B grade winner will find a spot in the A Grade competition while the runner up and others will be eligible to participate depending on the spaces available.

Bank of South Pacific made it possible for the competition to cue off with K15, 000 presented.

This is part of ongoing partnership the Association has with the Bank.

The competition will kick off from the 12th of September at Port Moresby Country Club. [EMTV]
