26 PNG Students will Study in Indonesian Universities

PORT MORESBY - Twenty – six students will travel to various parts of Indonesia to study different tertiary courses.

The Scholarship Program comes under the Indonesian government’s Scholarship Scheme aimed at equipping Papua New Guineans with necessary knowledge to return and develop the Nation.

This morning, the successful applicants were presented with their Scholarship awards at the Indonesian Embassy in Port Moresby.

This is the third group of students to participate under the Indonesian government’s Scholarship Program since 2011.  Indonesian Ambassador to PNG and Solomon Islands Andreas Setepu said the Scholarship was made possible through the Memorandum of Agreement of Cooperation signed between PNG and Indonesia. The Ambassador encouraged the scholars to utilise the opportunity well.

This group of scholars will be taking up various tertiary courses at the different universities and institutions in Indonesia. Among them, Ronald Meketa, who will be doing his Masters in Chemical Engineering.

The Scholars were then presented with their Scholarship Awards and necessary documents for the journey ahead. The group will depart for the various destinations in Indonesia in the coming weeks. [EMTV]
