Port Moresby Nature Park opens New Security Building

GEREHU (PORT MORESBY) - The Port Moresby Nature Park opened its new security building located at the new main entry to the Port Moresby Nature Park, at Gerehu.

It is an integral part of the park’s overall upgrade in building PNG’s tourism, recreational and educational attraction.
The kit building was supplied by PNG Forest Product’s Niu Homes division.

"We are environmentally conscious company; therefore, we are more than happy to associate with the greenery of the Port Moresby Nature Park,” says Gus Gordon - PNG FP Niu Homes National Sales Manager.

Mr Gordon and Port Moresby Nature Park’s General Manager Michelle McGeorge cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the building, in a small ceremony this morning.

Uniforce Security is the contracted firm responsible for guarding the grounds. They have progressed from this tiny set-up to a more spacious one.

Commercial Security Commander John Lote expressed gratitude to both organizations for the office.

As the park works on its new main entry, security is an important aspect for the estimated one hundred thousand visitors it gets each year.

The main entry upgrade to the park is gradually taking shape. Apart from the new security base, there is an additional 16-space car park and main entry building that will house a café, souvenir shop, flower shop, a new ticketing entry area and grand court yard into the park.

“All of it is about making sure that when people arrive here they can get in easily, security is there, also to have the correct facilities that are needed to meet the needs of a hundred thousand people that come through the gate,” says Michelle McGeorge – POM Nature Park GM. [EMTV]
